Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is a procedure in which the lens of the eye is removed and, in most cases, replaced with an artificial lens. Normally the lens of your eye is clear. A cataract causes the lens to become cloudy, eventually affecting your vision. Cataract surgery is performed on an outpatient basis by an ophthalmologist, so you don't have to stay in the hospital after the surgery. Cataract surgery is very common and is generally a safe procedure.
