During your pregnancy, you would be offered a variety of tests, including blood tests and ultrasound baby scans. These are intended to make your pregnancy safer by checking and assessing your and your baby's development and wellbeing, as well as screening for specific conditions. It is entirely up to you whether or not to take any of the tests. However, understanding the purpose of all tests is critical in order to make an informed decision about whether or not to have them. You can discuss it with your maternity team. You will be asked to provide a urine sample during your antenatal appointments. A variety of factors, including protein, are tested in your urine. You may have a urine infection if you find this in your urine. It could also be a sign of preeclampsia.
